January in Vieques
A Watercolor and Sketching Workshop in the Carribbean
The small Caribbean island of Vieques lies just off the Southeastern coast of Puerto Rico. Easily accessible by airplane, the attractions of Vieques are its wonderful climate, unhurried pace, natural beauty, serene beaches, and Hispanic culture. Vieques offers the chance to observe and partake of a more leisurely way of life, closer to nature, in an Hispanic culture, with the convenience that English is the second language and that Puerto Rico is part of the States and has the same currency. The beaches are renown for their white sand, clear, turquoise water and graceful palm trees. The mean temperature in January is 75 degrees with sea breezes and luminous, changing skies.
Betsey Morse Mayer leads annual painting trips to Vieques. The trips combine daily instruction in painting with leisurely exploration of the island and plenty of free time. Lodging is provided at a comfortable bed and breakfast with landscaped gardens and swimming pool.
